Your GP and pharmacy each keep their own records about your health. The GP records your complaints and treatments, the pharmacy your medicines and allergies. This data can be shared via the LSP (National Switch Point).
Another healthcare provider can request your data if necessary for your treatment. Using your BSN, the LSP searches which healthcare providers have made data available about you. If data are available, the healthcare provider can request and view them. The network only lists your BSN and which GP and pharmacy have data available about you. Your medical data are therefore not stored in the LSP.
The LSP is divided into about 40 regions. All GP surgeries, general practitioners and pharmacies, which use the LSP, are assigned to one of these regions and can join another region if necessary. Within such a region, healthcare providers exchange data with each other. An exception has been made for hospitals. They often have patients coming from several regions and can therefore exchange data with several regions.
Patients basically do not notice the region classification, unless they also come to healthcare providers from other regions. In that case, data may not be retrievable. You can use the region classification to see in which region or regions your healthcare provider can share data. Do you want healthcare providers to be able to share your medical data electronically? If so, you can give permission verbally if your GP or pharmacist asks for it.
In addition, you can print out the form, complete it and submit it to your healthcare provider. You can also arrange your consent online at www.volgjezorg.nl. Several healthcare providers may have data about you that they want to share. In that case, please give your consent to each healthcare provider. You can withdraw your consent at any time.
You have given your GP and pharmacies permission. They may share your most important medical data with other healthcare providers. Then, of course, you want to know what happens to that data. You can do this with overview of consents and exchanges On Volgjezorg.
On these statements, you can see what data your GP and pharmacies share with your other healthcare providers. And when they made that data available. You can also see which healthcare providers have viewed which types of data. And when.
If you give consent via Volgjezorg, this consent is not immediately active. Your care providers will receive a request from Volgjezorg to process your permission in their system. This may take several days to a few weeks. In the personal environment you can see whether your consent has been processed. Has your permission still not been processed after a few weeks? If so, contact your healthcare provider and ask whether the consent can be processed.
Since Monday 24 March 2025, we have been working with a new software system. This may cause you to temporarily have to wait longer, both on the phone and in the waiting room, as our staff are still getting used to the new system. We ask for your understanding for this.
Sincerely,
